What each 80 Plus rating costs per watt
Price per watt of rated output, so a rating is not made to look expensive by the big units that carry it. The best value is the unit with the lowest price per watt at that rating today. The biggest price drops come first.

What we track, and how to read it
Every day we record the lowest in-stock US price of every power supply we track at Newegg, B&H, ASUS Store, and Adorama. A unit sold under several part numbers counts once, at its lowest price. The typical price is the median across the units in stock that day, and the middle half is the range from the 25th to the 75th percentile. Wattage classes run from one step to just below the next, so the 850 W class holds every unit from 850 to 999 W.
Each chart line is a price index. It follows the same units from one day to the next and starts at 100 on the first day shown: a line at 105 means those units cost 5% more than on that day, one at 95 means 5% less. Because each day is compared only with the units that were also priced the day before, units joining or leaving the catalog cannot move it. The typical price can move for that reason alone, which is why the two sometimes disagree.
The change columns are the same index over the period shown. The period buttons above any chart or table switch the whole page. A figure marked “since” a date covers less than the period, because our record of those units starts on that day.
All figures are United States prices in USD, before sales tax and shipping; prices elsewhere differ. Amazon prices are not included, although they appear on each unit’s own page where Amazon’s terms allow. Our daily record began on July 20, 2026; longer periods appear here as it grows.
