Every B650E board we track has a PCIe 5.0 graphics slot and a PCIe 5.0 M.2 slot, while no B650 board offers PCIe 5.0 on the graphics slot at all. Both take exactly the same AM5 processors.

B650E is worth it only if you specifically want a PCIe 5.0 graphics slot. No current graphics card is meaningfully held back by PCIe 4.0, so for most builds this is a future-proofing decision rather than a performance one, and B650 keeps the money in your pocket.

What does the E mean in B650E?
Extreme. It designates a chipset tier that requires PCIe 5.0 on the primary graphics slot, and in practice B650E boards also carry PCIe 5.0 M.2 storage. It is not a form factor: the M in B650M means Micro-ATX, which is a separate thing entirely.
Is B650E worth it over B650?
Only for the PCIe 5.0 graphics slot. Current graphics cards lose very little on PCIe 4.0, so unless you have a specific reason to want Gen 5 on that slot, B650 does the same job with the same processors.
Do B650 and B650E take the same CPUs?
Yes. Both are AM5 and take the same Ryzen processors.
